Many modern entrance doors need a power supply in the door leaf for electronic door locks, fingerprint scanners and other access systems or integrated lighting. In cooperation with SOMMER, Groke has developed a new system for the power supply of doors. This first of its kind comes without complex cabling or spring contacts that would be susceptible to wear, with power being supplied via the door hinges.

FBI burglary statistics show that 65% of home break-ins occur by forcing in one of the entry doors on a home. And one of the weakest points of most entry doors is the area around the door strike and deadbolt. Several forceful kicks in this area can break away the door frame or damage the door panel and/or the lock so the door can be opened. For most doors there is only one lock area. On all Groke entry doors a multi-point locking system is used to secure the door along the full edge of the door. A hook type lock is used at the top and bottom while the door strike and deadbolt secures the center area of the system. Groke also uses two stainless steel bolt locks on the hinge side of the door to prevent anyone from leveraging the door off of the European style pin hinges. These bolt locks working in concert with the hinges that are rated at 350 lbs. of force per hinge provides total coverage around the full perimeter of the door. The frame of your door system can jeopardize the security of your home as well. Most door frames are constructed of wood and in some cases provide less than 1” of thickness. If there is no reinforcement where the locks go through the wood frame one kick can allow access to the home. Groke doors are manufactured using only multi-chambered aluminum extrusions to create the door and frame. The 3mm wall thickness of this aluminum frame design provides strength for the multi-point locking system while also giving the overall door system stability and total resistance to most all types of abuse. When considering the overall security of your home, it is helpful to understand that your entry door is no better than its weakest point. Groke offers very secure entry doors with the most modern door designs. May you have a happy holiday season and a joyfull new year... ...and may there be peace on earth for all. For 118 years, the Karlsruhe site has been active in metal engineering and is now undergoing a modern expansion. As Groke Türen und Toren GmbH had reached its capacity limits there, the urgently-needed construction of a new hall began in September 2015 in Hagenbach in Rhineland-Palatinate. A new building is now being built on about 4,450 m² in the Breitwiesen industrial park. The old production facilities no longer had any room for further expansions. The production of entry doors will be the focus of production at the new site. At the moment, a completely new powder-coating system is being built. At the same time, a high-
bay warehouse is being constructed at the new site. There is also a second construction phase in the planning which expands the building space to about 9,850 m2. With the various building and expansion measures, Groke wants to achieve an even greater production depth and sees various individualisation options as additional development steps. Above all, the extensive chances when it comes to sizes and equipment features of the various door varieties are currently taking centre stage. With its flexible and need-oriented production model in which almost all doors are practically made in line with customer requests, Groke is reacting to the modern conditions of competition. More room and more production depth will improve efficiency, quality and ultimately benefit the customer. |
